INVITATION TO THE SCHOOL COMMUNITY TO PARTICIPATE IN THE 6TH INTERNATIONAL MARATHON ROAD OF RODOS

Invitation to the School Community of the South Aegean Region, to participate in the 6th International Marathon Road Rhodes on 14 April 2019, sent the Organizing Committee, through its member Ms. Adamantia Facea, Coordinator of the South Aegean Sustainability Committee.

The invitation is addressed to all Directors of A / B and B / B Education South Aegean and was communicated to teachers of Physical Education Schools, states:

"It is with great pleasure that we invite your school community, teachers, students and parents, to participate in the 6th International Road Marathon, which will be held in the city of Rhodes, on Sunday, April 14, 2019.

Alongside the 42.195 km Marathon, there will be races:

• Half marathon and 10 km (for students over 15 years old)
• Road 5 km (students over 12 years old) and
• 1.000m. (only for children of Primary Schools, born in the years

2007 to 2009).

To the participants of the 5km. and 10km. (high schools)

and Lyceums) will be given with their registration: a bag, a commemorative T-shirt, a number

participation, commemorative medal, provision of electronic timing chip,

water supply, medical services and certificate of participation on line.

The school, high school or lyceum, with the most entries, will be given a sports

material, worth 300€.

To the participants of the 1000m. (Primary), with the

registration will be given: bag, commemorative t-shirt, commemorative medal,

water supply, medical services.

For the group registration of schools (high schools and lyceums) for the

5km. the registration fee is set at 5€ per person, for the 10km. it is set at

15€ per person, the group registration of the Primary Schools in the 1000m., is

Free. Maximum number of enrolment for the Municipal Schools 750 students.

Deadline for applications is Sunday 31 March 2019.

In any case and regardless of the above date, registration for primary schools may be completed earlier, if the maximum number of children for the race (750 entries) is reached.

There is no possibility to cover travel and accommodation expenses. However, Blue Star Ferries, as official sponsor, provides 50% discount to the runners and 30% to their vehicles, who will travel with its ships to Rhodes, from Piraeus, Kos, Kalymnos, Leros and Syros. It is an opportunity for students, teachers and parents to participate in an International Race, with all the standards required and to gain a unique experience of this great event.

The race is certified by the SEGAS, the IAAF & the International Road Marathon Federation AIMS and is co-organized by the SEGAS Dodecanese, the South Aegean Region, the DOPAR and the non-profit company "Marathon Rhodes", with the support of the Rhodes Hotel Association and the Municipality of Rhodes, while it is under the auspices of the E.O.T. and the Ministry of Tourism.

We hope that, as in the 2018 Marathon, your participation will mark the success of this year's event.

Attached are: the group registration form for the Gymnasiums and Lyceums and the parent/guardian's/guardian's participation forms, respectively for the lower and upper secondary education, which will remain at the schools.
