Record distance at the Rhodes Marathon - Thousands of runners experienced a great race!

Every record was broken by 9th International Marathon of Rhodes which was a great success on Sunday 21 April on the Emerald Isle.

More than 3800 runners of any age from 52 countries participated in all the routes, while record in the classic distance was achieved by Kenyan Kurgat Kiptoo Moses with 2:16:08 which is one of the best times ever achieved in a marathon in Greece. "I really enjoyed the course and the race, everything was beautiful and I want to come back. I will invite my fellow runners to come and run together," said the big winner. In second place finished the race. Charles Thomas also from Kenya with 2:27:46 and on the third step of the podium was Polish Dominik Malik with 2:52:56. In fourth place and first Greek was Panagiotis-Stylianos Demetriou with a time of 2:52:56.

In women first place for the Moonika Kitt from Estonia in 3:22:14, while second place went to Hannah Garvey with 3:24.32 from Great Britain and third was Ana Maria Wilson from Colombia with 3:27:39. The first Greek was Evangelia Vlahaki 3:28:31.

In the race of the half marathon the big winner was Michael Hadjioannou with 1:14:45, who constantly honors the Rhodes Marathon with his presence and in the women's race won the Ukrainian Anna Georgievskaya in 1:33:59.

The champion of the Athens Marathon had a special presence at the event, Panayiotis Karaiskos who was the big winner of the 10km with 32:06, while the Irish Rachel Murphy was first in the women's race with 41:40.

A big party in Rhodes

But beyond the times and performance, the 9th Marathon of Rhodes evolved into a big running party with the presence of thousands of runners and fans who came out on the streets of the island and encouraged the participants.

This climate was also contributed to by the Dj Petros Triantafyllou, KALIDON and George Manolas playing music in the Town Hall Square and the concerts with Rhodes music bands opposite the Aktaion.

The Ambassador of the Rhodes Marathon Olympic Champion put his own touch Pyrrhus Dimas who was photographed, signed autographs and chatted with people. "Thank you very much to the people for the warm welcome. It's important to see that even though it's been several years since I brought success to Greece, people don't forget you. Congratulations also to the Organizing Committee for the excellent race," Pyrros said. Present at the event was also the Regional Governor of South Aegean. George Hadjimarkos and the Mayor of Rhodes Alexandros Koliadis. Ton SEGAS represented by the Secretary-General George Yatroudakis and the President of EAS SEGAS Dodecanese Vassilis Zeikas, the Deputy Mayors of Marathon, Evangelos Kyparissis and Anastasios Chrysinas, the Ambassador of the Marathon Flame Spyros Zagaris and the University Of Καραβασίλης from Telmissos.

We broke the course record and the participation record, but what counts above all is the smiles we saw on the faces of the participants. The success of this year's race raises the bar even higher for next year's 10^ο anniversary Marathon of Rhodes, for which we will prepare many surprises. See you in 2025."

The International Marathon of Rhodes was illuminated by the Marathon Flame that the SEGAS had brought a day earlier on the island and in a special ceremony the altar was lit in the Town Hall Square.

Also, the race is supported by the Municipality of Rhodes, the Dodecanese Chamber of Commerce and the Rhodes Hotel Association, while it is under the auspices of EEA. It is carried out with the certification of the SEGAS and the International Road Marathon Federation AIMS, on an excellent coastal route that "runs" through the most important sights of Rhodes.
