The South Aegean Region is a key "pillar" of the Rhodes International Marathon!

Ο 8^ous International Marathon of Rhodes will be organized on Sunday 30 April 2023 with the participation of Region of South Aegean as the main co-organising authority. With the valuable support of PNAI, the race is today an "institution" for the international running community, another "global" sporting rendezvous in the South Aegean!

"The Rhodes Marathon is a sporting event of international importance. When we inspired and co-organized it the first year, 9 years ago, we had a goal: To become an institution for the sporting events of Rhodes. And we succeeded.

Today, the 8th International Marathon of Rhodes attracts runners from all over the world, offering them the unique opportunity to run on a magnificent seaside route, next to the walls of the Medieval city.

Another global rendezvous of the international sports community, in the South Aegean, which teaches extroversion, being perhaps the race with the strongest historical reference and the most important symbolism.

The South Aegean Region loves sports and proves it in practice through the dozens of global and pan-European events that it has hosted in recent years, "running" in its own marathon route to win our islands their place on the world map and in the global calendar of major sporting events", said the Regional Governor of the Aegean, George Hadjimarkos.

For the cooperation with the South Aegean Region, the President of the Organizing Committee, Marietta Papavassiliou reported the following: "The Rhodes International Marathon started as a big venture and has evolved into a race that has become an institution for the global running community. The South Aegean Region has played a catalytic role in this success and from the very first moment it has supported the event as a key co-organizing authority! We are very happy for this cooperation and we thank from the bottom of our hearts the Regional Governor Mr. George Hadjimarkos for sharing our vision to put Rhodes at the centre of the global running interest. We would also like to thank the Vice-Regional Director of Sports Mr. Nikos Nikolis for the excellent cooperation. In a challenging era, such as the one we are living through, the value of cooperation and teamwork is highlighted.

We are confident that with the support of the Regional Authority of George Hadjimarkos, the Rhodes International Marathon can conquer many new peaks".

Co-organizers of the race are the Non-profit Civil Society MARATHON OF RHODES, η EAS SEGAS Dodecanese, η Region of South Aegean and the Municipality of Rhodes-DOPAR. Also, the race is supported by the Dodecanese Chamber of Commerce, the Rhodes Hotel Association and the Museum of Modern Greek Art of the Municipality of Rhodes (New Wing), under the auspices of the EEA. It is carried out with the certification of the SEGAS and the International Road Marathon Federation AIMS, on an excellent coastal route that "runs" through the most important sights of Rhodes.
