The International Marathon of Rhodes is a member of the world's elite marathons

Ο Marathon of Rhodes proudly announces that it is officially a member of the elite of the Marathon races that make up the Abbott World Marathon Majors Wanda Age Group World Ranking Qualifying Series, the first world age-based marathon classification system.

It will be the only race in Greece that is a member of this world elite race, offering points to the runners for the world ranking and participation in the finals of 2021!  

Participants in a qualifying race AbbottWMM Wanda Age Group World Ranking Qualifying Series, such as the Marathon of Rhodes, will score points according to their age, time and gender, based on the following age groups for men and women: 40-44, 45-49, 50-54, 55-59, 60-64, 65-69, 70-74, 75-79, 80+.

Based on this ranking, the top runners from around the world will qualify for the second AbbbottWMM Wanda Age Group World Championships, which will be held in 2021. The participation period started on 30 September 2019 and will end on 11 October 2020.

The geographical spread of the selected marathon races that are part of the AbbottWMM Wanda Agre Group World Rankings creates a global event, giving runners around the world the opportunity to be part of the new era of marathon running.

So, the 7th Marathon of Rhodes which will take place on 3 May 2020, in addition to all the other benefits, it will offer many points to runners aged 40 and over to give them the chance to qualify for the world finals.
