April 9, 2019One level higher is the Rhodes Marathon with the presence of a truly great runner in the race that will take place on Sunday 14 April. It is the Bernard Chirchir, who after the actions of the technical director of the match Nikos Polias and with the support of the President of the organizing committee Marietta Papavassiliou, but also of AEGEAN, the official carrier of the event, will take part in the marathon as a guest athlete with the aim of a performance below 2:20:00.
"This is a runner with great potential and a lot of experience as he is part of the coaching team of Wilson Kipsang, Olympic bronze medalist and winner of five of the six Major Marathons, with a record of 2:03:13. In fact, he is the one who leads him on most of his training sessions in the town of Eden where they live and train together. His half marathon record is 1:04 at altitude in Nairobi, and at the age of 15 he ran the 1,500m in 3:42 also at altitude! Bernard has plenty of experience having run several marathons as a pacemaker for 30km and is now ready to run his first race. He is looking forward to coming to the island of Rhodes, where he aspires to start his career as a marathoner with a good performance well under 2:20. His preparation with Wilson Kipsang's team has gone very well and he feels ready to race!" Nikos Polias.
The entries for the marathon and half marathon have ended with athletes coming from 47 countries, a record number for the race which proves that the International Marathon of Rhodes has established itself worldwide in the minds of runners and contributes greatly to the promotion of Rhodes and Greece abroad

Ο Marathon of Rhodes organized by the Region of South Aegean, the E.A.S S.E.G.A.S Dodecanese, him IOPAR of Municipality of Rhodes as well as with the support of Rhodes Hotel Association. It is held under the auspices of Greek Tourism Organisation and has been included in the official calendar of the AIMS.
