April 17, 2018The preparations for the 5th International Marathon of Rhodes, which will take place on 29 April, are in the final stretch and apart from being a top sporting event, it has social implications, always focusing on people!
First of all, Rhodes, through its Marathon, will be one of the 12 cities in Greece that have been selected to organize events in the framework of the International Volunteer Blood Donor Day. The events will include a relay race with the participation of an Olympic and Paralympic medalist, as well as a Volunteer Blood Donor nominated by the General Hospital of Rhodes and the Volunteer Blood Donors Association of Rhodes.
The Organizing Committee of the race will include the relay in the Children's Race 1.000m. and the children will run wearing the special T-shirt, while the Olympic Champion will be the Rhodian Niki Xanthou and the Paralympic Champion, the also Rhodian Thanasis Barakas.
Also at the finish line will be members of the local club "Rodavgi" so that those interested can give a sample in order to become volunteer bone marrow donors to the "Orama Elpidas" club.
The message to support the "Vision of Hope" Association will be sent through her participation in the Rhodes Marathon by the Greek champion and Ambassador of the "Vision of Hope" Association, Maria Polyzou, emphasizing the importance of becoming volunteer blood donors and bone marrow donors.
Registrations for the Marathon, Half Marathon, as well as the 10 km, 5 km and 1,000 m races for Primary School students continue at www.rhodesmarathon.gr until April 22. Registrations can be made daily, except Saturday and Sunday (09.00-13.00) and at the offices of the EAS SEGAS Dodecanese at 1 Vyronos Street, while until Friday 20/04 registrations can also be made at the tourism office of the municipality of Rhodes next to the Echo and Light (10:00-15:00)!
Gold sponsor of the Rhodes Marathon is again this year Adidas through its local Adidas Rhodes store and the name sponsor of the 5 km race is the H Hotels collection group. Also, Aegean Airlines is the official air transport sponsor of the Rhodes Marathon and offers special rates to groups of more than 10 people, while Blue Star Ferries, which is the official sponsor of the Rhodes Marathon, offers 50% discount to passengers and 30% to vehicles that will travel with its ships to Rhodes, from Piraeus, Kos, Kalymnos, Leros and Syros.

The Rhodes Marathon is organized by the South Aegean Region, the E.A.S.S.E.G.A.S. of Dodecanese, the DOPAR of the Municipality of Rhodes and with the support of the Rhodes Hotel Association. It is held under the auspices of the Hellenic Tourism Organisation and has been included in the official AIMS calendar.
