AEGEAN joins the 11th TUI Rhodes Marathon as official air transport sponsor
May 4, 2026More than 4,500 runners from 61 countries participated in the anniversary race TUI Rhodes Marathon which evolved into a major sporting celebration, with participation exceeding any previous event.
The show was stolen at the Marathon by Kenyan Kurgat and the Rania Reboulis, with the Michael Hadjiioannou to finish in third place and be the first Greek, while in the Half Marathon the Babis Pitsolis He cut the thread first.
Ο Kurgat who holds the course record with 2.16:08 since last year, said: "It was hot and I was not satisfied with my performance, but this fact made me determined to come back next year and break the race record that I hold since last year."
Excited Rania Reboulis about winning first place in the Marathon she said: "I am very happy and I dedicate my race today to my dad who has a birthday today and is also doing a marathon of a lifetime, but also to my little daughter. I also want to thank my club, AGES Kameiros, and those who support me. I love what I do and I try to be in the races and I hope to be well next year and come to run in this wonderful race again. Congratulations to the organization and the President of the Organizing Committee, Marietta Papavassiliou, as well as to the excellent volunteers."
Ο Babis Pitsolis who participated in the event for the second time, said after his victory in the Half Marathon. "It was an excellent race and it was a very good training for me. A big thank you to the organizers and the volunteers who helped us a lot during the route."

The match was also attended by the Governor of the South Aegean George Hadjimarkos who stated: "The 4500 athletes from 61 countries who participated in the Rhodes Marathon demonstrated their trust in our islands. Whether you are a runner or a spectator, the aura of the Rhodes Marathon transmits enthusiasm and inspiration to all of us. We support the runners, live the experience and enjoy the magical route by the sea, in the midst of History, with the undivided help of the 700 volunteers."
The Olympic champions were also in Rhodes for the TUI Rhodes Marathon Voula Kozompoli and Katerina Thanou, as the World Race Walking Champion Antigone Drisbioti, which on Saturday at the Ancient Stadium of Rhodes lit for the first time the flame of Kallipateira to which the race was dedicated.
The medals were in the form of the President of the Organizing Committee Marietta Papavassiliou to explain: Through Kallipateira, we honor every woman who fights to overcome obstacles and excel, whether in sports or in any other area of life. In an era where gender equality remains a constant issue, her example is more relevant than ever.
