Hundreds of Rhodians and more are expected to participate in the 5,000m race of the Rhodes International Marathon on 21 April 2024. This is the shortest - in distance - race of the programme, which will start at 11.50am from Rimini Square (Sound and Light) and finish at Eleftherias Square (Altar of the Fatherland). It will be preceded by the 5km walk, which for the first time has been included in the programme for young and old alike.
Description of the 5km route, is: Rimini Square ➢ Shachtouri Beach➢ Australia Street ➢ Reversal at the intersection of Australia Street and I. Kapodistriou Street➢Australia Street Shachtouri Beach➢ Freedom Gate➢Finish: Centre of Rhodes, Eleftherias Square.
Right to Participate
The right to participate in the Marathon and Half Marathon races are men and women who have reached the age of 18 years, while for the 10 km race they must have reached the age of 15 years and for the 5 km race the age of 12 years. For all runners under the age of 18, the written consent of one of their guardians is required.
A prerequisite for the participation of underage runners is the submission of their student ID card and the solemn declaration of consent of their guardian by the official deadline for registration.
In the 1km race for Primary School Students, students born between 2012 and 2015 are eligible to participate.
Distinctions - Prizes
Trophies (medal and diploma) are awarded to the first three winners of the overall ranking of Men and Women of all Roads. A trophy is awarded only to the first male and female athlete of each Race.
All runners who finish will be given a commemorative medal, while there will be the possibility to print an electronic participation certificate once the final results are official.
