Rhodes Marathon becomes a member of the Marathons World Elite

Rhodes Marathon is proud to announce that is a member of an elite group of marathon races that form the Abbott World Marathon Majors Wanda Age Group World Ranking Qualifying Series, the first ever global age-group marathon ranking system.

The Rhodes Marathon will be the only race in Greece that is a member of the specific Marathons World Elite, offering world ranking points to runners!  

Participants in an AbbottWMM Wanda Age Group World Ranking qualifying Series qualifying race, such as the Rhodes Marathon, will earn points according to their age, time and gender, aligned with the following age groups for men and women: 40-44, 45-49, 50-54, 55-59, 60-64, 65-69, 70-74, 75-79, 80+.

From this ranking, the top age group runners from around the globe will qualify for a place at the second annual AbbbottWMM Wanda Age Group World Championships which will take place in 2021. The qualifying period started on September 30 2019 and will end on October 11, 2020.

The geographical spread of the selected marathon events that are part of the AbbottWMM Wanda Agre Group World Rankings creates a truly global series throughout the year, giving runners around the world the chance to be part of a new era of age group marathon running.

The 7th Rhodes Marathon, which will take place on May 3, 2020, offers all our participants aged 40 and above to see where they rank alongside runners around the world and hopefully see some of them make it to the start line of the 2021 world championships!
